Trick or Treat

October 31, 2011

Smell my feet, give me something good to eat.  If you don’t I don’t care, I’ll pull down your underwear.  I was dancing around the house reciting this in a sing song voice and Andrew told me they didn’t say this!  Did you say this when you were a kid?  He also said, you guys didn’t tell jokes to get candy did you?  I was like uh yeah we did.  He told me that was dumb, I told him we will most definitely make our kids do that, it teaches them they have to earn their loot, right?

Best halloween costume ever?  Hmm that would have to be my jelly belly costume. I wore a trash bag filled with balloons and my mom made a very realistic Jelly Belly sign.  Not sure if this was the best, but it was the most memorable, so it was probably my favorite.

Halloween traditions: We always ate pizza Halloween night.  Tonight my parents are continuing this tradition with their small group and I’m so glad they have those people to share this with.  Andrew and I started our own tradition of watching Nightmare Before Christmas.  I want to make pizza tonight, but I honestly already have the stuff ready for Chili, so because I don’t like to waste, we’re not having pizza tonight.

It’s our first Halloween with a home that will have Trick or Treaters.  I’m going to be honest with you, I have been kind of dreading this night for the past couple weeks.  I don’t like trick or treaters, I think it’s awkward and inconvenient, but we aren’t going to be those weird neighbors that shut their light off and don’t participate.  I hope tonight goes better than I think it will.

How about you, what are your thoughts on Halloween/what was your best costume ever?

Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up.  Does anyone else remember this absolutely crazy commercial.  I think it was advertising answering machines.  Anyway since turning 26 I’ve decided I absolutely must have some goals this year because after having 25 goals last year I couldn’t have a goalless year.  I may put together some sort of list, it would be short and honestly at the moment I can’t think what these things are, but I will tell you my number one goal….

To answer the phone.  If you’ve ever called me you know that I don’t answer the phone, like ever.  If I’m in the middle of a T.V. show I don’t answer.  If I’m not in the mood to talk I don’t answer.  If I figure I’ll see you in the next week anyway I don’t answer.  Basically I would have to be in the exact right mood to answer the phone.  It doesn’t matter who you are, I even purposely didn’t answer on several occasions when the hubs called me, I know terrible, right?  For this reason some people have vowed to never call me again, seriously.  I have such this reputation in my family that if people really need to get a hold of me they don’t even call me, they call Andrew and he hands me his phone.  So this year I am picking up the phone, it’s amazing how many people I’ve reconnected with because I’ve answered every time I have been able to.  Obviously there are circumstances where I just can’t pick up, but when I can I do.  So if you have felt rejected by me, I apologize, and if you want to talk, I’ll answer, I promise!

More Like Her

October 25, 2011

I’m becoming more like her everyday.  My Grandmother, Katherine Burks Russell.  She passed away February 28, 2005.  Since then I’m reminded of her often through the jewelry I inherited, she was one trendy jewelry wearer.  I’m reminded by my nail beds, how random is that?  I literally look at my fingernails and realize that I have the same hands.  Age spots, yep they started showing up last year, I remember she had quite a few and they have definitely popped out in a patch on my face.  Unfortunately this week I found out that I inherited her high cholesterol too.  It sent me in to a bit of a tailspin because I’m very dramatic.  I believe I told Andrew that I was probably dying…can you imagine me saying that?  Then I googled some stuff and I am trying to figure out what I’m going to eat and trying to commit to working out everyday.  It turns out that it’s just another thing that I’m going to have to fight against to not be chemically medicated.  I need to drop it 33 points…blek, that’s a lot, I think Cheerios is supposed to drop it a whole 3 points. If only I had inherited her tiny figure too…

Beaver Anal Glands

October 24, 2011

Are you intrigued?  Be prepared to being completely grossed out.  I mean Beaver Anal Glands alone is a gross thought, but did you know this is an ingredient in FOOD?  Yep, I feel a little bad for telling you this, especially if you like raspberry candy.  My Sister-In-Law passed this website on to me that outlines the 10 most disgusting things found in foods that we eat.  I bet you didn’t know you were eating anal glands, bugs, sand, sheep secretions, and the list of nasty stuff goes on.  If you want to read the article and be completely turned off to processed foods and some fast food CLICK HERE.  If you are someone who strongly believes that ignorance is bliss, do not click there!

Late as usual, but it’s still Thursday for a couple more hours 🙂  CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO.  Having an awesome week and I hope you are too!!!!

To tie you over

October 20, 2011

or is it tide you over?  Not sure, but anyway I haven’t recorded my video for today, but I did see THIS video on the internet today and have watched it several times and have laughed every single time.  Warning:  It’s pretty loud so you might want to turn down the volume a little bit.

Rattle Snake

October 18, 2011

This past weekend was the women’s retreat with our church.  I last minute was able to attend and I’m so glad I was able to go.  As A.M. and I walked up to pick up our room key I saw a little baby snake slither up onto the porch of our cabin.  I said, “snake”, people panicked and it curled up by the porch post.  I said oh it’s kind of cute, A.M. kept quiet and them P.M. (haha these are actually people’s initials, it just turns out they are AM and PM) said, “Oh hey, that’s a rattlesnake.”  A.M. laughed and said, “yeah wasn’t going to tell Laura about that.”  They called the snake wrangler and it was quickly taken care of.  It was also the only snake we saw the entire time.

It was a weekend of refreshment.  It was awesome to spend time with a whole bunch of women.  We stayed up late, chatting both nights until after 2:00.  Played games, loved MAD GAB, it was the first time I’d played it and I am currently looking for it because I absolutely must have it!  It was perfect timing too because Andrew has been gone this weekend and so I would have been alone otherwise.  There is so much to say about this weekend, but I can’t put my thoughts into words so for now I’ll leave you with just this.

I actually remembered to record this last night so I could get it up first thing this morning!  Joining Bex, A Style Diary for another edition of Thursday Latelies.  CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO!  And for all of you who watch this because you miss me, today marks 6 WEEKS until Thanksgiving so I’ll see you soon…ish.

So for those of you who live in colder climates you are probably preparing for months of staying inside, sitting by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa, etc.  We just came out of that season, minus the fires and hot cocoa so we are now ready to get outside and enjoy the weather.  I thought I’d inform all of you who are soon to be couch potatoes of the shows that are on netflix with updated seasons, in case you haven’t been keeping up on it.  These are the shows we/I’ve been watching lately:

Storage Wars:  great show, entertaining and 20 minute episodes

Grey’s Anatomy:  I am not totally up to date

Brothers and Sisters: The final season is up!

30 ROCK: Fun quick episodes, just uploaded a new season

The Office:  Michael Scott’s final season is now available

We’ve become T.V. Junkies and intend to change this in the coming weeks now that we actually want to get out and do stuff.  All you snowed in peeps, enjoy the shows!
