Five to Four

July 28, 2010

Yesterday I went from 5 jobs to 4 jobs and I’m already feeling a bit lighter!  I cleared out my desk and said goodbye to my internship at the Vineyard Church in Urbana.  I’ve realized I need to streamline my jobs a little better otherwise my brain feels like it’s going to explode.  This weekend I’m finishing up flowers for two weddings which means I only have one left this year!  I’m ready to hang up my hat on this one too for now.  I’m really excited for the wedding in October that I’m doing because it’s for a friend I lived with in college, but I think I’ll wait till we move to see if I feel like taking any more weddings in the future.  Thirty-One is going really well,  I’m starting to book parties for August and it’s filling up.  The new fall stuff is SO cute and I can’t wait for people to see it.  Starting in August I’ll be managing Bella Bambini again 20 hours a week.  I love the new location and the people I get to work with everyday.  It’ll be interesting to be back because so much has changed!  Last, but not least, I’ll be working at Wesley Romine Painting 20 hours a week as well until we move, even after we move I hope to keep at least a few hours a week at a  distance with this job because I really do love working for Wesley.  It’ll be really weird when we move to Peoria and I essentially go from 4 jobs to none for a while until I find something or start booking Thirty-One parties!  I will welcome the break though.

On a side note, Andrew’s interview went REALLY well and we should know a little bit more later this week or early next week!  We’ll keep you posted.

45 Minutes

July 26, 2010

In 45 minutes Andrew will be walking into his interview…please pray for him as this is the job he would really like to have!  We appreciate all the support we’ve received over the last few months as he’s been going through the process that has led him to this day!  We will let you know how it goes 🙂  I’m sure he will knock it out of the park.

Absent

July 19, 2010

I apologize for our absence this past week…it’s not that we haven’t been doing anything worth writing about, it’s that’s we’ve been doing so much we haven’t had time to write about it.  Let’s see if I can do a quick recap!

This past week Andrew has had some encouraging stuff happen on the job front…we’ll post as soon as we can with an update on that.

I (Laura) helped with the songs for VBS all week and decided that VBS is probably not my niche

Tuesday of last week we had a very fun classy cow party for a friend:  Here’s a picture of the set up… loved planning it:

Still doing the 31 for 31 challenge on HERE.  Getting tired of it, but can’t wimp out now, I only have 12 days left.  Thank goodness for Jenna, she is keeping me going on it!  And her pictures are stunning.

This weekend we had a lovely laid back hang out on Friday and Saturday.  Friday I got to hold a baby and get my fix in and Saturday we played a riproaring game of Nerts and Jenna took some HILARIOUS pictures of the attendees, all of which are not blog appropriate.  Well maybe I’ll put a couple up…please don’t kill me 🙂

This one is pretty cute!

This was an attempt to take a picture while shaking my head really fast...didn't work so much!

Pretty much sums up the evening!

Artistic Through the Cup Picture

Then we had a lovely day yesterday with my parents celebrating my dad’s birthday and going to open houses and then having dinner and watching HGTV.

So there is a very short life update….more to follow soon!

X-Large Mallows

July 11, 2010

Have you seen the new GIGANTIC marshmallows they are making now?  They are like 4 times the size of  regular marshmallow.  I had 3 of them for “dinner”  tonight…don’t worry I also had 2 peppermint patties and a small piece of pizza.  Then I got the worst stomach ache of my LIFE.  These would be absolutely PERFECT for smores.  I looked online to show you a picture and I couldn’t find them so if anyone knows where you can get these enormous pillows of deliciousness leave a comment.

Flipping the Bird

July 8, 2010

Yesterday I was going to Hobby Lobby with my mom and as I turned onto Prospect from Bloomington Rd this lady almost hit me.  I didn’t really react other than saying wow she was close to me.  She proceeds to lay on her horn, swerve around me change 2 lanes and then she hangs out her window flicking me off and swearing at me.  I always tend to feel sorry for people who have this kind of rage inside of them.  I was following the road rules to perfection and she treated me as if I was breaking every one in the book.  What life circumstances has she gone through to make her so hateful?  Did it make her feel better to try to make me feel ashamed or stupid?  She definitely assumed that I was in the wrong and you know what assuming does….to assume means to make an assume out of assume and assume. I learned that one in 5th grade from my teacher and I think about it often.

Bottomline:  Don’t flick people off, you look like the stupid one in the situation, it accomplishes absolutely nothing.

Andrew’s new toy

July 3, 2010

Well, as some of you know, I love to read (Laura, not so much). So much so, I’ve often gotten into trouble with Laura by bringing up the fact that my dream house would include a 2-story library. You’ve seen them in the movies – walls filled floor to ceiling with books, and a ladder on wheels that spins around the room. Oh, and of course a secret passageway or two! It makes Laura gag just thinking about all the “clutter” that books allegedly bring.

So, for my birthday/graduation this year (ok, a little early on the graduation – that’s hopefully happening soon), Laura authorized me to go ahead and get myself a Kindle by Amazon. We did a little comparison shopping with the Barnes & Noble nook, but it just wasn’t quite what I wanted. Plus, I had $100 in Amazon gift certificates to spend on books! I have been downloading and reading like crazy! It has made my habit of reading multiple books at once a little worse – now I can flip from one book to another with a couple keystrokes. It drives me crazy to start a book without finishing another, yet I can’t help my ADD self.  I received it on Tuesday, and I’ve already finished one book and started three more! Meanwhile, my poor paperback “Atlas Shrugged” (which I’ve been reading since October thanks to its 1000+ page length) is hanging in there on the side table, about 80% read, until the Kindle novelty wears out!

Word to the wise: if you can’t think of a gift idea for me, Amazon sells gift certificates in many denominations!!

One of a Kind Bling

July 2, 2010

So today, as I usually do about once per month, I stopped by Brownes Fine Jewelry to get my ring checked and cleaned.  As per usual I try on a bunch of rings while I wait.  I got talking with one of the ladies in there and she informed me that I am the ONLY person in the whole town that has my ring.  I always thought that the only reason why I was the only person in town with my ring was because I turned the oval diamond sideways to make it more unique.  Come to find out I am literally the only person who has purchased that setting since they got it 2 1/2 years ago.  So either it’s ugly or I have better taste than everyone else (just kidding).  After trying on all the rings in the shop I found that I still love my ring more than any of the other ones in the store.

ALSO:  There is a modified version of the Eclipse engagement ring there and it’s actually quite beautiful…it’s MUCH smaller than the one in the movie and they are by no means endorsing it as an Eclipse ring.

July 1st Check In

July 1, 2010

I’m writing this with 45 minutes until it’s not July 1st anymore.

Hula Hoop:  Better than last month.  Not perfect, but I’d say I did it for about 1/3 of the month.

Bible:  Andrew has rocked this area out and I’ve DEFINITELY fallen short.  I’m hoping this next month I can really dive into what I set out to do last month.  My commitment this month was totally shameful!

Floss:  I flossed tonight after I ate popcorn at the movie theater, does that count???  Ok I should totally take this off the list and replace it with taking vitamins…that’s something I want to do and need to hold myself accountable to so maybe next month flossing will be replaced with vitamins!

I hope you are all doing MUCH better than me!!!
